What’s nearby?

Many people find that once they have parked their car outside Gorwel they don’t need it again until they drive home. A short walk from your door will bring you to a rather special restaurant, Morawelon, which like Gorwel, also sits on the edge of the water and serves you with everything from an ice cream and a delicious cup of coffee to a wonderful evening meal.  Make sure you book.

  • A ten minute walk along the estuary will bring you to the pretty town of Newport, which has a well-stocked grocer, a superb butcher, a health food shop, a newsagent, chemist, bank, library, Doctor's Surgery, a good selection of art galleries, pubs, restaurants, cafes and so much more.
  • If walking is your thing, you will be spoilt for choice, with miles and miles of coastal Path on your doorstep and the beautiful Preseli hills nearby. There is a great bus service that calls at most of the bays along the coastal path to take you to the start of your walk or bring you back to your cottage at the end.
  • The Sea will give you hours of pleasure. Whether you choose to sail in the bay, swim, windsurf or body board in the waves of Newport Beach,  catch fish or crabs off the sea wall or just sit by the picture window in the sitting room and watch the tide come and go.
  • Newport has an 18 hole links golf course which can be seen from the cottage on the headland opposite.
  • If you want to go off and explore further afield there are countless opportunities for entertainment in the area for all age groups. The cottage has a good supply of leaflets and brochures to inform you of local entertainment.
